How to Deal with "Break-ups"

Restless nights, heartaches, frequent nighttime cryings and loss of appetite. These are just some of  the aftershocks of what we call BROKE UPs. Teen-agers do really experience these all. But the question is... how to get over this?

Broke-ups are not easy to get over. It may take days, weeks, or even months before one can recover from a break-up. Here are some tips on how to really deal with break-ups.

1. Cry. If you can't really take it, just cry this out. This may help you to really express your feeling and even makes you feel better. It may be nice to look for someone to share what you really feel at this time. They may comfort you and give you advice on what to do.

2. Don't think too much of it. Thinking too much may cause you too much stress. Try to do other alternative things to forget your ex and spend all your time in it (e.g. writing a song, reading books, drawing, etc.). Engage your self with other interesting activities and try to enjoy it. This may help you to get over all your problem.

3. Do not establish communication with your ex until you are ready. It may be right to give your partner and yourself the space you need until you find yourselves. Try to think over if you two really have the chance to be together again or your relationship will no longer work.

4. After you have the answers with all your questions, talk to each other. Communication is really important to a relationship. This may make-up or ruin every relationship.

5. Reconcile, forgive, and forget. After the two of you have talk to each other, try to forgive your partner. Try to give trust again even though trust is not easy to give back again to the person who ruins it.

6. Decide whether to be in a relationship again or just be friends. Make it clear to your partner what your relationship will be.

These are just mere tips. The decision is always yours to follow these or not. Just always remember to be careful with all the decisions you are to make. :)

The Road to Success

THE ROAD TO SUCCESS
Jay -  R5 Sibonga

"Everyone wants to be successful. Everyone dreams of being a rich, popular enthusiast. But the sad truth is... only few work for it."

Success is not instant... It is the  product of hard work and desire for it. One cannot buy success, one must work for it. Many successful person say that success is really from hard work. It is not instant. A successful person is industrious and hardworking. He may not be the most intelligent person in this world, nor he may not be the most handsome or beautiful person, but he is a very great man who made his dreams come true.

In this time of continued modernization of life and higher level of technology which makes life easier, people are getting used to the "instant" life. People now engage in sedentary lifestyle, thus resulting to laziness. This laziness is also implied to every activities we engage in. At home, the food  we eat is  now  instant. at school, students don't want to experience hardships in their lessons. If we have this mentality in our lives, can we say to ourselves that someday, we will be successful? Yes, everyone dreams to be successful but we are not doing the necessary actions to make it come true. In conclusion, we are always living in our dreams.

One can't be successful in just a snap of a finger. It takes time to be a successful person. Even a lotto winner can't be considered a successful man until he uses the prize he won to be successful. Success takes time. It can be attained at a time period. It must be worked upon.

The road to success is not an easy way. It is the road of hardships, trials and suffering. Many people have tried but only survived. With just a simple trial they quit. With little hardships, they stop walking through the road and forget their dreams. This road maybe full of suffering, but in the end of the road, there is happiness, the fulfillment of one's person.

Failures does not end to itself. All of us failed but it only teaches us to stand after we fall. To face life after all. Failures teaches us to be strong, be patient, and be eager. It teaches us  not to stop to reach for our dreams but continue to hold on until we reach the end of the road. The fulfillment of success.

"Try and try until you succeed." It is an old adamant but a great source of inspiration. Let us hold on to our dreams. Let us do the best that we can. Let us face the road to success with God as our guide. Let us be strong to face any trials. And let us make our dreams a reality.

Participate, Interfere, Cooperate, Act Now!

PARTICIPATE, INTERFERE, COOPERATE: ACT NOW!
By Jay-R5 B. Sibonga

Billions worth of properties are burned, millions are injured, and hundreds of thousands are killed by the wild, catastrophic, ferocious and perilous element on earth: fire.

Fire plays an important role in our everyday lives: in cooking food, recycling nutrients, giving warmth, and supplying energy to living organisms. It also gives us light to help us see things clearly. This element really does great help to humans, but this can also be a catastrophe and chaos when not properly used.
Thousands and thousands of fire accidents are results of carelessness of one’s use of fire. Some of these are accidental and some are intentional. Truly, fire is a great and powerful element that turns anything it touches to ash. Even a little ignite of fire can result to a great devastation if not properly handled. We must be aware of everything that surrounds us and be sensitive to our environment.

Summer is fast approaching. It is the season of the year when people are getting busy on their vacations, maybe on summer vacations spots like Boracay, Baguio, etc. This is also the reason when the temperature is fast rising and people are exhausted because of extreme heat. They want to go on a vacation provided that their safety is at hand. We all want to have a safe and happy summer vacation, right?

Every March of each year, the Bureau of Fire Protection celebrates the “Fire Prevention Month”. It aims to inform the  people about fire-safety tips and activities. This year’s theme: “Makiisa, Makialam at Makipagtulungan, Upang Sunog ay Maiiwasan” calls each and every Filipino citizen, young and old, to be aware of fire-safety. It also calls us to join and participate in the activities of BFP to prevent the ill effects of the destructive fire. It reminds us of our responsibility in the safety of the whole community as well as the whole nation.

MAKIISA. Every campaign and project that is to be done needs active participation from the members of the group. BFP calls us to actively participate in the activities of the organization for the benefit of all.  They aim and expect the active participation that every Filipino can give. We are also expected to do our best for the success of the fire prevention campaign of our government to prevent loss of properties and even loss of lives.

MAKIALAM. Joining and/or participating in an activity means being sensitive, aware and informed about the things that must be done for its success. Doing the best feasible things and ways to be aware for public safety will be of great help. We must interfere and do the best that we can give. It is not enough that one will just say: “I will participate! I will join!” but does nothing to help in the group. Words are worthless without actions that must be done.

MAKIPAGTULUNGAN. Cooperation is the key to success. Without cooperation and participation, there will be no success. Every activity needs cooperation to bear fruitful results. Cooperation may serve as the fuel of a car to make it move. Thus, without cooperation, a group may just disintegrate and none of the group’s goals and aspirations will be achieved. Everyone is expected to cooperate in the best way possible to support, and help fire-prevention campaigns.

MAKIISA, MAKIALAM at MAKIPAGTULUNGAN. This year’s theme believes in the power of the Filipino people to give their best. This calls for an effective move in the prevention of fire accidents. It may be in our own little ways like unplugging unused appliances, keeping unused gas stove closed, checking electrical wirings, keeping flammable things out of children’s reach, taking care of our environment, teaching and informing Filipino citizens, especially the youth of today in their unique role for the safety of the public.

It is the duty of everyone to spare themselves, their families and their neighbors from the dangers of fire. We are doing this not only for ourselves but rather for our loved ones. When is the right time to act? When the time we will be affected? Our families killed? Our properties burned? Are we going to wait for that time we find ourselves mourning and suffering? This is the right time to unite, to act and to give our best efforts to save the community, and even the country as well, from the destruction of fire.

Wika

WIKA

Alleviate the Detriments of Bullying

ALLEVIATE THE DETRIMENTS OF BULLYING
by Jay – R5 B. Sibonga

“The invisible wounds”… once I’ve seen this in my youngster magazine, I said to myself: “What does this mean?”

The nightmare called BULLYING, the invisible wounds. Bullying comes in many forms. It may be physical, mental, verbal and many more. Why there are many youngsters experiencing this kind of stuff? Many youngsters today don’t share what they feel, what they really want to say. They are ashamed or they are afraid of expressing what is inside them. So even if they are experiencing stress, depression, despair and many more, they don’t share these to anyone because of fear. They don’t even share what they feel to their parents, relatives, teachers and friends because they don’t know how to start. And when bullies come along their way, it’s too hard for them to handle the situation.

Bullying is often called “the invisible wounds” because even if this happen, children don’t tell it to anyone because of fear, and cowardice in reporting to man adult. Even they are not hurt physically, they may be hurt mentally and verbally. Most youngsters today have no intervention when it comes to bullying. They are not advised on the things they must do to stop this nightmare. These could probably the reason why many youngsters today aren’t able to face bullying squarely, and, because of these, bullying isn’t stopped and continues without anyone knowing that he/she is bullied / bullying.

Therefore, bullying is the “invisible wound” that is not cured. Just like a wound in your body, if you don’t know how to treat that wound and leave it uncured, it may cause other complications that will make the wound worse. But if you seek help to treat that wound, it may heal and you will fell much better.

Maybe, all of us don’t even notice that we are becoming bullies ourselves. When we call tease our friends, calling our friends with funny names, or humiliating a person in front of a mob, we become bullies. We didn’t even notice that we are hurting them, maybe not physically, but emotionally and mentally.

I remembered this scene in our school. This happened last August 2011. me, my classmates and schoolmates are busy preparing for  the “Buwan ng Wika” celebration. I was assigned to do the “arko” together with my classmates. At first, things gone smoothly, until some of my classmates came to be with us. They noticed one of my classmates, whom they are always teasing, working with us. While we work with each other, they tease him and let him feel very down. It comes to the very point that they say: “Wala kang ulo!” I, even if they’re not teasing me, felt the anger on them. They keep on saying bad words to that person as if they are very perfect. I looked at my classmate and I felt the anger inside him and the very little patience that he still holds.

This story is not just the only bullying event in our school that I encountered. Youngsters today want to end this never ending cycle of sorrow, but they wouldn’t or rather, they couldn’t. I liked to help my classmate being bullied, but I can’t. I am afraid that they will also tease me like what they did to him. In short, I did nothing to help.

The best ways to stop this nightmare are: (a) saying no to it; (b) asking help and guidance to an adult; and (c) help other people bullied. So that the unseen wounds in our youngsters today be cured. Let’s work together to stop bullying, to irradiate it and to treat the wounds of bulling. Let’s help people bullied by other people by showing sympathy and support to them. Do not allow them to think you are weak and easy to be bullied. Remember that “there are no bullies if we won’t allow them to exist”.

As a National Discipline Awardee, What Can You do to Make this Country a Better Place to Live in?

AS A NATIONAL DISCIPLINE AWARDEE, WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN?

Being a National Discipline Awardee, my deepest desire to be a productive member of the Filipino nation and also to serve our country in my own little ways can help to make this country a better place to live. I believe that great things come from humble beginnings. Who can say, that the small things that a youth like me initiated will spread throughout the whole community, in the country, or even in the whole world.

From the values that I have learned in this school, I have formed the value of initiative, especially on things that I know will benefit many.

I will be a good example. I will always obey the rules and regulations of the school, so that my friends and acquaintances will also be encouraged to obey them. I will involve myself in the activities and programs aiming the welfare of the youth, especially street children who needs love, care and attention from someone by charitable works like feeding programs and education. I will also encourage my peers to lessen playing computer games and spend more time in more productive activities like studying. Also, to help solve the environmental problems of today, I will be eco-friendly. I will join environmental activities like tree planting, recycling, segregating garbage, waste management, etc. We reside near a body or river, because of that; I will ensure that no litter will be thrown there because it affects not only humans, but also living things in that body of water.

As a citizen of the Philippines, it is my duty and responsibility to always respond to the needs of my country and fellowmen. Even though I am not given the chance to be a Sangguniang Kabataan officer, I will still support all the programs that they are implementing for the common good, because I believe that it does not take to be a leader to respond to the call of service, rather it is the duty of each and every citizen of this country to serve even in our own little ways. Because, if we work together, through the guidance of the Almighty, we can make this country a paradise… a better place to live in.
